food in los angeles is famous for several reasons that range across several cuisines and styles. the large latin and asian population have led to some of the best restaurants in the world that are inspired by healthy and local ingredients. other restaurants are world famous for their individual experiences and signature dishes. los angeles has some of the best instagram worthy- restaurants with the vibes ranging from upscale city lounge to santa monica tulum-inspired rooftops. as I continue to explore restaurants throughout the los angeles / orange county / san diego area I’ll continue to update this page with some of my favorite findings
1.
Gracias Madre

2.
malibu farms- lido
malibu farms is a world famous californian cuisine restaurant with several locations in socal and one in new york city. the one on lido isle in newport beach has an extremely fresh menu and breathtaking views of the marina. the crowd is usually local orange county which makes it easy to avoid the herds of tourists at the malibu location. my favorite menu items are the avocado huarache and the limeade tequila cocktail.
3.

joey dtla has a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite restaurants in all of southern california. joey has the perfect night or daytime vibe and is perfect for pictures and an absolutely delicious meal. they have an incredible list of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options along with delicious cocktails. my favorite menu items are the korean fried cauliflower bowl, the impossible burger, truffle fries, and the she pretty cocktail.
4.
flamingo deck - San Diego (21+)
flamingo deck is the perfect place before a night out with friends. enjoy a delicious cocktail in a flamingo pitcher and some of their delicious appetizers. my favorite menu items are the drunk in love margarita and the burrata salad. flamingo deck does not take reservations, it's easiest to go on a weekday or earlier in the day on the weekends.
5.
bang bang - San Diego
bang bang in san diego is one of the coolest restaurants I've been to in southern california. bang bang is a japanese restaurant with other popular asian dishes mixed with a club atmosphere and live DJ. the restaurant also has a club separating the dining area. it was too dark to get photos of food inside so you'll just have to trust me on this one. my favorite menu items are the cucumber avocado rolls, the veggie rolls, and the snake's garden cocktail.
